I work in the Financial District and the mood today is obviously very
somber. The Dow fell 777 points, Wachovia has been bought by Citi,
today is the worst single-drop day for stocks in 20 years. How are we
going to get ourselves out of this? Peaceful protests. Ok. Maybe
not really. But these people did draw a crowd. Where ususally it is
tourists en route to the Statue of Liberty, or worse yet, the WTC site
- the crowd surrounding these protesters were all suited up, and just
kind of staring, not even snickering. Though one seemed to capture
the mood perfectly when he said "You may be right about capitalism and
our governement, especially today, but bad punctuation sure isn't
helping your cause." Truer words...
I was recently walking through this park near City Hall and heard the
best exchange ever.
Guy: Hey, Jen?
Jen: Yah! Oh hey. Whats up? This is only my second match.com, I'm
a little nervous right now.
Guy: No worries, did you find the place ok?
Jen: Yes. I've actually never been to the People with AIDS Plaza, so
I had to ask directions.
Fin.
This guy sounds tremendous. "Her profile is cute. I should just take
this emailing to the next level and propose a face to face meeting.
But where? The clock at Grand Central? Too busy. Central Park?
Been done a thousand times. Oh wait, there was that People with AIDS
Plaza. Done."
